A man who allegedly stole a car, which had been parked by the owner in Ruwa, has been taken to court.
Reuben Ishmael Dungwa, 37, of Hungwe Close, Ruwa, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with theft of a motor vehicle.
The State alleges that on December 31, 2023, at around 1000 hours, Dungwa and his accomplice, who is still at large, stole the complainant’s parked Honda Fit.
The complainant had left the car under custody of private security guards at Mara Farm in Ruwa as he went to work.
Dungwa and his accomplice reportedly used duplicate keys to open the doors, started the engine and drove away.
The complainant later came back and discovered that his car was missing.
He made a report at ZRP Ruwa.
On January 1, 2024 detectives from CID Vehicle Theft Squad Harare picked information on Dungwa’s whereabouts and arrested him.
Upon interviews, he implicated one who was identified as Stanley as the one who went driving the stolen car.
On January 2, 2024, complainant recovered his car dumped in Epworth with everything intact.
The car is worth US$5 000.
Dungwa was ordered to appear in court on January 5.
