South African television channel SABC Sport has acquired rights to broadcast the Afcon tournament, which scheduled to run from January 14 to February 11, 2024 in Ivory Coast.

SABC announced the development in a statement, along with another on the acquisition of all remaining live matches to the rest of the CAF events.

“In addition, SABC Sport has also acquired the live matches to the rest of the CAF events, which includes all 150 matches of the Afcon 2025 qualifiers, CAF Chan 2024, CAF Champions league 2023-2024, Africa Women Cup of Nations 2024 and CAF Super Cup 2024,” the SABC statement said.

Meanwhile, Multichoice, which owns Dstv, has failed to acquire the rights to the Afcon and will not be broadcasting the tournament.

In a statement, Dstv revealed that its sports channel Supersport will not be able to broadcast the Afcon 2023 games as it has failed to acquire the rights for the tournament.

“SuperSport channel will not broadcast the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 scheduled for January 13th February 11th, 2024, because the channel has not secured the rights to broadcast the tournament,” Dstv posted in a statement.

“However, Afcon 2023 games will be available through our partner broadcast stations on Free to Air channels,” the statement added.

Afcon is set to start on January 14, 2024 with the hosts Ivory Coast locking horns with Guinea-Bissau.
