College owner robbed at gunpoint, loses cash and valuables

An unidentified suspect atacked a private college owner in Masvingo and stole cash, two cellphones and two laptops.

Police confirmed the incident saying the unknown suspect, who was armed with an unidentified pistol, attacked the college owner at his house in Mucheke D, Masvingo before stealing US$22 800, two cellphones and two laptops.

“The suspect approached the college owner purporting to be looking for a place for a Form 1 student at a certain college,” police said in a statement.

In another case, police have arrested Obey Katsande, 21, and Tinashe Andrea, 23, in connection with a case of unlawful entry into premises and theft in Norton.

“… they allegedly broke into OK Katanga shop and stole various items,” police statement read.

“Police have recovered a laptop, a laptop charger, 39 packets of cigarettes, a travelling bag, a satchel, a Lenovo tablet and two cellphones from the suspects,” police added.

Meanwhile, police in Chipinge, police have confirmed the arrest of 43-year-old Emberayi Hliuwayo at Takunda Village in connection with cultivation and possession of drugs.

In a statement seen by ZimNow, police wrote, “Police recovered 6kg of dagga and 12 plants of approximately 0.9m in length planted surrounding the suspect’s homestead”.

This follows a statement by the National Committee on drug and substance abuse, to name and shame all drug peddlers, adding that the law will fall hard on the offenders.
