Two men, who allegedly kidnapped a complainant and led to his arrest, have been granted US$200 bail.
Brian Chande, 50, of Zengeza 1, Chitungwiza, and Moussa Mounchikpou, 57, of The Grange, Harare, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts on kidnapping allegations.
The State alleges that October 28, 2023, at number 21 Douglas Road, Workington, Harare, Chamde and Mounchikpou together with three other accomplices who are still at large summoned the complainant to one of the offices at number 21 Douglas Road, Workington, Harare.
Chande allegedly introduced the complainant to his three accomplices who claimed to be police officers and left him with his accomplices who told him that he was under arrest for failing to deliver 600 bags of fertiliser at Omnia Fertiliser Company in Zambia.
They also assaulted him using a baton stick while he was handcuffed and ordered him to tell them where he had offloaded the truckload of fertiliser.
At around 1700 hours, the accused persons forcibly took the complainant into their car against his will. They drove to Chirundu Border Post where they handed him over to Lloyd Chisumba a Zambian national who was together with Zambian police officers.
Chisumba, who was using an Isuzu twin cab, took the complainant to Mosque Police Post in Makeni, Zambia where he was detained.
The complainant then made a report through Interpol on December 18, 2023.
They were ordered to deposit US$200 each as bail and were remanded to March 14.
