Two men, who allegedly kidnapped a police officer who had arrested one of them, have been taken to court.
Bongani Chipope, 22, of Ruwa and Fungai Makukutu, 26, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts before magistrate Dennis Mangosi charged with kidnapping.
They were remanded in custody to Monday for bail application.
The State, through prosecutor Rufaro Chonzi, alleges that on May 23, at corner Mutare Road and Chiremba Road, Ruwa, Chipope was arrested for remaining stationery at an undersigned place while driving a Nissan Caravan and was instructed to drive to ZRP Ruwa.
It is alleged that Chipope refused to drive to ZRP Ruwa and told the police that he wanted to take him to Harare CBD where he was going to deal with him.
Chipope picked Makukutu then drove towards Harare,.
The court heard that the two accused told the police officer that they wanted to dump him in Harare.
Chipope then made a u-turn.
