A Sincere Security Services security guard, who allegedly disappeared with a company firearm in November last year, has been nabbed.

Tafadzwa Brenton Mutandwa, 20, of Goromonzi, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with theft of a firearm.

The State alleges that on November 15, 2023, at around 1700 hours, Mutandwa was given a .38 revolver to use on duty at Soltum Company in Harare.

He signed for it in the company’s firearm record book at Eastlea offices in Harare.

The State alleges that Mutandwa did not return the firearm after knocking off duty on November 16, 2023, at 0600 hours.

He went on to change his residential place and never reported for duty since then.

It is alleged that on February 4, 2024, members of the public saw that Mutandwa had a firearm in his bag, leading to his arrest and recovery of the firearm.

The firearm was worth US$600.

He was remanded in custody.
