President Mnangagwa in Dubai for World Governments Summit

President Emmerson Mnangagwa left the country for the 11th edition of the World Government Summit in Dubai that seeks to empower the next generation of governments.

The three-day summit, which started today, focuses on a number of themes as well as conversations among governments, international organisations, thought leaders, and private sector leaders.

“In 2024, the World Governments Summit will take place under the theme of ‘Shaping Future Governments’ where the conversation will involve governments, international organisations, thought leaders, and private sector leaders from around the globe to international cooperation and enable governments to identify innovative solutions for future challenges– further rippling to inspire and empower the next generation of governments,” WGS posted on their X.

The focus on the main theme “Shaping future governments” comprises of a number of themes highlighted to shape and form basis of the summit that includes government acceleration and transformation, Artificial Intelligence and the next frontiers, reimagining development and future economies among others, with respective specialist organisation leaders and keynote speakers from 85 international organisations invited to deliberate on the selected topics.

“World Governments Summit 2024 is bringing together 85 international organisations, 140 governments, more than 25 heads of states, 700 heads of major international companies, and more than 4 000 experts and officials. We can play an important role in changing the world’s view of many issues and challenges,” WGS added.

The annual Summit brings together world and organisation leaders to discuss the challenges at hand and those to come in the foreseeable future, while solutions and remedies often come from conversations and dialogue within the days of the summit.
