Former Citizens’ Coalition for Change leader, Nelson Chamisa’s political plans are still unclear with recent appointments in the different CCC factions signalling a continuation of chaos in the opposition formation.
CCC supporters have also raised questions over his leadership style.
Posting on X, many expressed disappointment over Chamisa’s decision, condemning what has been dubbed ‘one man show’ which centralises power and decision making in one person.
Kudzai Mutisi is of the view that Chamisa should institutionalise his party so that it becomes one with common ideology and ideas based organisation, moving away from cultism.
“If political career ended by failing to submit to a party leader, an individual, then that party isn’t a political party. It is a cult.”
“We need to move away from this Chamisa worshiping thing. We cannot demonise everyone for not siding with Nero. We may want to ask why Chamisa failed to keep the party United. That’s part of leadership. He failed in that respect,” on X user Jedza T said.
Other X users sought to defend those that remained in the CCC party and have taken control of it.
Knowledge Magadzo said, “Cde leader. The people demand reliable servantship. When you preach democracy and emancipation, exercise it as well. Strategies and ideas are borrowed politically, you cannot thrive in solitary confinements, in ambiguous strategies because you will even confuse your consumers.”
"The fact that politicians you loved and respected decided to part ways with Nelson Chamisa, says a lot about his leadership. This is not one member of his leadership structure growing a big head, as happened during Tavangirai era. Chamisa has managed to fall out with the entirety of the party leadership. It’s not a surprise that his impositions are the only who have pledged allegiance to him,” one ReggaesRambo said.
“Initially we were told Thokozani Khupe is the problem, we attacked Khupe. MDC Alliance was formed. We were told Mwonzora is a problem, we attacked Mwonzora. Now we are being told the problem is Ncube and Biti. Aiwa. Only one person is perfect Chamisa. Let’s analyse Chamisa,” said one ThinkTank.
