44-year-old arrested for shooting at a vehicle

A 44-year-old Onwell Chigorimbo was arrested for shooting at a vehicle that made an abrupt U-turn at a crossing junction in front of his vehicle along Chibero Road in Norton.

In a statement, police said that Chigorimbo opened fire and shot the victim’s front right tyre after shooting at the ground once with his FN Browning Pistol, leading to the deflation of the victim’s right front tyre.

“The suspect fired a shot on the ground with an EN Browning Pistol before firing at the front tyre of the victim’s vehicle, a Honda Fit. The vehicle’s right tyre deflated as a result of the shooting.

“The victim had made an abrupt U-turn at a cross junction near Chibero Agricultural College in front of the suspect’s vehicle, a Toyota Hilux,” Police said.

Meanwhile, the police confirmed a robbery incident at a house in Zimre, Ruwa where five armed men disguised as TelOne technicians assaulted the owner before stealing US$25 000, two laptops, and groceries.

In a police statement on X, the five male suspects were armed with a pistol and a ladder, while disguising as employees of local network provider, TelOne to gain access into the residency.

“Police in Ruwa are investigating a case of robbery which occurred at a house in Zimre Park on 04/03/24 in which five male suspects who were armed with a pistol and a ladder, disguised as TelOne employees to gain entrance into the victim’s yard.

“The suspects attacked the victim before stealing US$25 000 cash, various groceries and two laptops. Anyone with information to report at any nearest police station,” police said.
