A man from Hopley, Harare, who allegedly raped his daughter, telling his wife that the victim was not her daughter, has been taken to court.
The 36-year-old suspect appeared before magistrate Donald Ndirowei at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with rape.
He was remanded in custody.
The State, through prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti, alleges that on February 15, at around 1600 hours, the complainant’s step-mother went to church for the whole night, leaving accused with the complainant.
At around 2000 hours, accused and the complainant and another child he had been left with went to sleep.
It is alleged that accused slept on the bed and the children slept on the floor.
At around 0100 hours, the accused sneaked into complainant’s blankets.
It is alleged that he had removed the complainant’s clothes.
The complainant allegedly saw blood which was mixed with other fluids on her private part.
She allegedly asked the accused why he was in her blankets but he did not answer her.
He then returned to his bed.
At around 0600 hours, it is alleged that the complainant’s step-mother returned from church and the complainant told her what accused him had done to her.
The stepmother asked the accused why he had done that and he ordered to keep quiet because the victim was not her daughter.
