Man in court for raping step-daughter

A 44-year-old man, who was in the habit of raping his step-daughter, has been taken to court.

The accused appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with rape.

He was remanded in custody.

The complainant in this matter is an 11-year-old female juvenile.

The complainant’s mother and the accused divorced in 2021 and reconciled late December of 2023.

The State alleges that on a date unknown to the prosecutor, the accused took advantage of the absence of the complainant’s mother and he dragged the complainant into a room and forced her to sleep onto the bed.

He allegedly then covered the complainant’s mouth and raped her.

It is alleged that on April 17, at around 0600 hours, the accused called the complainant and raped her again.

On April 20, the court heard that at around 1700 hours the complainant’s mother was bathing and the accused called the complainant to serve him sadza, whereupon he raped her again.

The complainant’s mother then entered the house and saw the accused and the complainant half-dressed.

She asked the accused what was happening and the complainant put her clothes on and went outside crying.
