A Harare man, who allegedly participated in assaulting another to death over a girl he had courted, has been taken to court.

Last Takundwa, 31, of Budiriro 2, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with murder.

He was ordered to appear in court on March 27 for routine remand.

The State alleges that on March 4, at around 0200 hours, Takundwa and his accomplices, Robson Takundwa and Justin Magedhi were drinking beer inside Big Dhara Nite Club, Glen View 4 Shopping Centre in Harare.

The accused persons had a misunderstanding with the now-deceased, Geodricks Mushonga over a girlfriend whom Takundwa had earlier courted.

This did not go well with Takundwa and his accomplices who blocked the Nite Club’s entrance and dragged the now-deceased Mushonga out to the bus terminus in front of the club and started assaulting him with open hands and booted feet.

One of the accused took out a knife and stabbed the now-deceased Mushonga three times on the head, back and buttocks, leading to his death.

Takundwa and his team then fled from the scene and went into hiding.
