Zimbabwe 7's (Cheetahs) skipper Kudzai Weston Mashawi has announced his retirement from international rugby.
Mashawi confirmed the development to Zimbabwe Now and he said retirement is part of the journey anyone has to embark on it he was calling time on his career.
On his Facebook page, Mashawi posted: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support and encouragement throughout my journey. In good times and bad you have stood by me. It's made a permanent mark on my Rugby career and I enjoyed my time."
He added he felt honored to have been a captain for the Cheetahs.
"To be named captain for the nation was an honor and more so, leading a group of passionate, dedicated young men who live and breathe nothing but outmost pride for Cheetahs Jersey," reads the post.
He reflected he has had a solid experience with Cheetahs as an academy
"I have gained a lot of experience in playing against professional athletes out there and the type of training that the Cheetahs academy has set up is quite good if we are evolving as a nation in Rugby," he said.
Mashawi added he will still be involved in the sport of rugby but donning a different jersey altogether.
"I am looking forward to get into coaching kids as I love working with kids," he said.
Currently, Mashawi is with Harare Sports Club.
