Democratic Official Party leader, Harry Peter Wilson, who was a presidential candidate in the 2023 Harmonised Elections held last August, has disowned a social media invite to a Thank You Rally, supposedly scheduled for “tomorrow”.

This comes as an invite to a “Thank You Rally” has been circulating on social media, with the DOP leader’s photograph, inviting people to the “rally”.

In an interview with Zim Now, Wilson initially gave a terse response.

“No not interested, not involved, was never invited,” said Wilson.

In an more detailed response sent to this publication later, the DOP leader said his party is the only opposition party contesting by-elections.

“So, we have the sanity of getting people to know that they have another opportunity to vote for a better economy, better education system and better infrastructure among other things.

“Look around, Zimbabweans are struggling, unemployment. I gave a competitive complete breakdown on the resuscitation of the employment criteria, and to get industry back to functionality, but as we are not heard.

“It is a punishment to Zimbabweans, who every day question why the government doesn’t listen and implement our ideas because they are suffering,” he wondered.

He added that he sent a full blue print outlining the road to transformation, adding that Zimbabweans need to work and make the country fully functional.
