A Chitungwiza man, who allegedly robbed a complainant of his car, has been taken to court.
Tamuka Zimucha, 22, of Zengeza 4, Chitungwiza, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with robbing a motor vehicle.
He was remanded in custody.
The State alleges that on April 29, at around 0200 hours the complainant parked his Toyota Sienta, waiting for his customers when he was approached by Zimucha and his accomplice, who is still at large, saying they wanted to go to Nyatsime.
The complainant then drove along Chitungwiza Road and as he was passing Musakanene Shopping Centre, Zimucha directed him into Eyecourt Resort Centre.
The court heard that suddenly one of the accused persons grabbed him on the neck, holding a knife and Zimucha produced a pistol, threatening to kill the complainant.
The accused person stole the Toyota Sienta, an Iphone X, Techno Spark and US$20 and dumped the complainant before driving away.
The complainant then filed a report at ZRP St Mary’s and matter was referred to CID Vehicle Theft Squad Harare for further management.
It is alleged that on May 3, the police was informed that there was a suspected stolen motor vehicle without number plates parked at Glen Norah C car park.
They went there and established that Zimucha had secured the parking place for the motor-vehicle.
A follow-up was made on him and he was arrested at Glen Nora C Harare.
The complainant, upon seeing the car, realised the wheels had been changed.
When Zimucha was interviewed, he indicated that he had sold the mega-wheels to one Freddy Bible.
