A Harare man, who allegedly stole a computer from his former boss to make money, has been taken to court.
Arnold Jakarasi, 41, of Hopley Farm, appeared before magistrate Ethel Chichera at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with theft.
He will appear in court on June 25.
The complainant in this matter is Amos Silizani, 46, director of Silmos Technologies Private Limited, which deals with selling of point of sale software.
The State, through prosecutor Sithembiso Moyo, alleges that from October 2023 to November 2023, Jakarasi was employed by Silizani as a general worker, his duties included installing software on points of sale.
The court heard that on November 11, 2023, Jakarasi resigned from Silmos Technologies after having accessed Silizani’s Lenovo laptop and stolen a business licensed software called SA UTIILS.
It is alleged that after stealing the software, Jakarasi approached different entities and solicited for jobs at different premises, including Prenuel Enterprises Enterprises Glen Norah, JC supermarket Chegutu, Gudomart Supermarket Mufakose, Supreme Groceries Glen Norah, Cigarettes Shop-Leopold Takawira, Dumba Shop-Leopold Takawira, Evelyn Groceries-Leopold Takawira charging US$20 each client for installing the SA UTIILS software.
As a result, the value that was prejudiced from the complainant was US$4 000.
