Local financial institution, ZB Financial Holdings, has availed a number of funding options that Small and Medium enterprises can explore in a bid to enhance and promote the sector, with bank representatives at the Expo encouraging entrepreneurs to take advantage of the platform for exchanging ideas as well as showcasing their products.

The inaugural Expo hosted by ZB, in collaboration with Bulawayo Chamber of SMEs, offers a unique opportunity to entrepreneurs to network with market specialists gaining insights and knowledge on growth in business and being equipped in financial literacy, all in line with economic development goals and progress.

Speaking at the Expo, Tenjiwe Sibanda, Non-Executive Derector of ZB Financial Holdings, said that the inaugural Expo presents itself as a milestone complementing the dedication and commitment of the institution towards promoting growth and development among entrepreneurs.

Sibanda said the sector presents itself as an integral part of the country’s economy through creation of employment and economic progress while also driving innovation.

She also added that ZB is willing to provide SMEs with relevant skills and resources to generate progress and enhance growth in the sector, noting that funding options, financial literacy and account opening are some of the available measures taken by the institution to improve lives.

“It is my pleasure to welcome you to our inaugural SME Expo, a milestone event that demonstrates our commitment to supporting the growth and development of Small and Medium Enterprises. As we all know, SMEs are the backbone of our economy, driving innovation, job creation, and economic progress. At ZB, we recognise the critical role you play and are dedicated to empowering you with the necessary tools and resources to succeed.

“In line with our vision to improve lives through service, our aim is to equip SMEs with financial literacy, funding options, and account opening opportunities.

“Today, you will have the chance to engage with our experts, industry specialists, and like-minded entrepreneurs, gaining valuable insights and knowledge to help your businesses thrive.

“This Expo offers a unique platform for networking and exchanging business ideas, allowing you to showcase your products and services to a wider audience. We deliberately designed this event to foster collaboration, learning, and growth, and we are confident that it will be a resounding success,” Sibanda said.

Speaking at the same event, BCSMEs chairperson, Energy Majazi, said that the Expo presents an opportunity to SMEs to showcase their products as well as gain invaluable knowledge and experience through networking and sharing ideas, while also urging entrepreneurs to formalise their businesses so that they enjoy maximum benefits of services offered by financial institutions.

He further implored ZB to continue offering assistance and support in various ways to help entrepreneurs achieve their desired goals.

“We implore ZB to develop more social protection and pension oriented products that can assist our members at retirement stage or during other needs. Access to affordable finance, training, and market opportunities are key growth drivers for SMEs. We urge ZB to continue developing innovative products tailored to the specific needs of SMEs.

“As SMEs there is urgent need to formalise our businesses. There is need to register our organisations with the Deeds and Companies office, Zimra, PRAZ, NSSA, and Bulawayo City Council.

“It is easier to deal with development partners, including banks when business if formal; it is also a growth strategy. All those who have been afforded space to exhibit please use this occasion to market yourselves and grow. We have a total of 60 SMEs exhibiting, and we would want to thank and appreciate ZB Bank for this opportunity. I am informed that ZB has a unit taking care of SMEs, let us utilise its services,” he said.
