Ngezi Platinum Stars’ hopes of closing the gap on log leaders FC Platinum suffered a setback yesterday as they were held to a goalless draw by ZPC Kariba at home. The result marked the second consecutive draw for the defending champions, following their scoreless encounter with FC Platinum in their previous match.

The stalemate left Ngezi Platinum in third place on the log, two points behind Simba Bhora and four adrift of FC Platinum. Despite dominating possession and creating a few chances, the Mhondoro-based side struggled to find the back of the net against a resolute ZPC Kariba defense.

Ngezi Platinum coach Takesure Chiragwi attributed his team’s lackluster performance to fatigue, citing the demanding match against FC Platinum as a contributing factor. He expressed disappointment with the result but acknowledged the effort put in by his players.

ZPC Kariba, on the other hand, were delighted to secure a point away from home, especially considering their previous defeats at the same venue. Coach Newton Chitewe praised his team’s defensive organization and counter-attacking threat.

Both teams now turn their attention to their next fixtures, with Ngezi Platinum facing Manica Diamonds away and ZPC Kariba looking to build on their point.
