Guvamatanga's troubles pile as his massive riches are revealed

Zim Now Writer

The investigation into George Guvamatanga, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Finance, has raised serious concerns about unexplained wealth and possible corruption after it was revealed that he owns 12 luxurious properties in Johannesburg.

These properties, located in affluent areas such as Sandton, Randburg, Fourways, and Dainfern Golf Estate, are valued in millions of US dollars.

Notably, these acquisitions have sparked significant scrutiny, as government officials in Zimbabwe are mandated to declare their assets under anti-corruption policies.

Guvamatanga has faced criticism in the past regarding his unclear financial dealings, and these recent revelations deepen the suspicions about the legitimacy of his wealth accumulation.

The properties include joint ownership with individuals such as Hazvinei Chawatama and Vimbai Guvamatanga, with some registered under different family members.

The scale and value of these assets have drawn attention, intensifying calls for greater transparency and accountability in the countr's  public sector.

This situation is likely to amplify concerns about corruption within the government, and the public will be closely watching for any official responses or investigations into Guvamatanga’s financial activities.
