Three women appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Courts, facing murder charges after allegedly beating a man to death.

Mavis Gambiza ,36, Sharon Tayengwa ,26, and Sharon Mafushe, all from Mabvuku, stood before Magistrate Isheunesu Matova and were remanded in custody until March 3, 2025.

They were advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

According to prosecutor Rufaro Chonzi, the incident occurred in the early hours of February 13 at Babylon Bar in Old Tafara. The trio reportedly confronted Charles Julius, accusing him of stealing Gambiza’s Tecno cellphone.

The court heard that the women assaulted Julius, repeatedly striking him on the head with a pot and other unidentified objects, causing severe injuries.

He was taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital for treatment under Mabvuku police case reference OB1027/25 and was discharged the same day.

However, Julius succumbed to his injuries two days later, on February 15, 2025 at his home.

Police arrested the suspects later that day, leading to their court appearance.
