A 23-year-old woman has appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Court facing charges of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.
Makanaka Violet Kasviba was remanded in custody following her arrest in Dzivarasekwa 3, Harare.
According to the State, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics received information on February 18 that Kasviba was allegedly dealing in dangerous drugs at house number 445/8 Pasipanodya. Acting on this tip-off, officers conducted surveillance at the property.
Police claim they saw Kasviba standing at the gate and approached her. Upon noticing the detectives, she allegedly dropped two small sachets of a substance suspected to be methylenedioxymethamphetamine on the ground.
Officers retrieved the sachets, identified themselves, and informed her of their mission. A body search yielded no further contraband, and a search of her residence also found nothing.
Kasviba was arrested and taken to CID Drugs and Narcotics for further investigations. The seized sachets, weighing three grams, have an estimated street value of ZiG$900.
