A 29-year-old man, Carlos Tafadzwa Kaunzaunze, has been convicted of unlawful possession of a dangerous drug by the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court.
Kaunzaunze was arrested on January 28, 2026, at around 12:00 hours in the Hunyani residential area of Chinhoyi after police detectives received a tip-off while on patrol at Chinhoyi Rank in the township.

According to court papers, detectives searched Kaunzaunze and recovered one sachet of methylenedioxymethamphetamine, commonly known as crystal meth, weighing 0.39 grammes from his right jacket pocket.
The court sentenced Kaunzaunze to eight months’ imprisonment, with four months suspended on condition of good behaviour. He will serve an effective four-month prison term.
