Lieutenant General (Rtd) Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe has been appointed as the new Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, following his retirement from the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.
The announcement was made through a press statement issued by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr. M. Rushwaya, on March 25, 2025.
Sanyatwe’s appointment comes after the reassignment of his predecessor, Kirsty Coventry, who was relieved of her ministerial duties following her election as President of the International Olympic Committee.
The retired military commander previously served as the head of the Zimbabwe National Army.
