A Chitungwiza magistrate has ruled that Gogo Plaxedes Mashasha is mentally stable and fit to stand trial.

The State further remanded her to December 15, 2022 for bail application.

Regional magistrate Clever Tsikwa had ordered that Mashasha be taken for mental examination.

The 66-year-old Gogo Mashasha is facing culpable homicide charges.

She was arrested after staying with the decomposing body of her 80-year-old husband, who was reportedly last seen in a wheelchair more than five years ago.

She was taken into custody together with her son, Grant, whom neighbours also claimed they had last seen about 10 years ago.

Grant was also sent for mental evaluation.

According to neighbours, Gogo Mashasha told them that Grant was in the United Kingdom where his other siblings lived.

Family members have said that no one was allowed in the house by Gogo Mashashsa, including close relatives.
