Buhera man jailed 2 years for burning stepmother’s hut

A Buhera man has been jailed for two years by Mutare provincial magistrate Richard Ramaboure burning his stepmother’s hut, destroying all her property.

Oswell Nemadire was sentenced on Monday.

Prosecutor Loice Kadenha told the court that Nemadire broke into his stepmother, Joice Ndari’s hut at Ndari homestead, Nechakohwa Village under Chief Chamutsa in Buhera on 11 September, 2022 and set it alight.

The fire destroyed to ash a double bed, two pushing trays, a wardrobe, dinner plates, plastic plates, five blankets, school bags, plastic buckets, four three legged pots, four kango pots, 20kg maize meal, 1x50kg cement bag, washing dishes and clothes among other household property.
