During the meeting, Prof. Ncube briefed Dr. Paulo on the country’s economic trajectory and reform agenda. He highlighted that Government is finalising the formulation of the National Development Strategy 2 for the 2026–2030 period, which will succeed NDS1 when it concludes in December 2025.

“NDS2 outlines a structured roadmap toward transforming Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy,” Treasury stated.

The meeting reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the AfDB, which remains a key development partner for both the country and the broader Southern Africa region.

Treasury added that Dr. Paulo’s proactive engagement and on-the-ground assessment will support better alignment of future AfDB interventions with Zimbabwe’s development priorities.
