At around 10:30pm, the complainant heard a suspicious noise outside. When he went to check, he discovered that one of the vehicle’s windows had been smashed. On March 13, detectives from ZRP Magunje received a tip-off that Jakarasi was in possession of a firearm. Officers reacted swiftly, arresting him and recovering the stolen pistol. Jakarasi later implicated Maririmba, who was subsequently arrested in Karoi.
Investigations revealed that the stolen firearm had already been used in a robbery in Karoi, a crime the accused reportedly admitted to during questioning.
Both men are currently serving sentences for unrelated offences.
