Two Toddlers Die in Separate Drowning Tragedies in Harare and Bulawayo

Police have urged parents and guardians to exercise extreme vigilance in supervising minors after two toddlers died in separate drowning incidents in Bulawayo and Harare on 28 November 2025.

A three-year-old girl drowned in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, after falling into a toilet pit filled with water. The pit is believed to be about 2.5 metres deep. The child was reportedly playing in the yard when the tragic accident occurred.

In the second incident, a two-year-old boy from New Mabvuku, Harare, died after falling into a six-metre-deep well at a house along Gurudzi Street. Efforts to rescue him were unsuccessful.

Authorities further encouraged parents, guardians, and caregivers to maintain constant supervision of minors, especially in environments with unprotected water bodies or construction pits.
