Rhinos Retain Domestic T20 Title After Rain Washes Out Final

The Rhinos have been confirmed as champions of the 2025/26 Domestic T20 Competition after the final against the Eagles was abandoned due to rain yesterday.

The decider was scheduled to take place at Kwekwe Sports Club, but persistent rainfall shortly after the toss prevented any play from getting underway. Worsening conditions throughout the day left match officials with no option but to call off the contest.

With no cricket possible and no reserve day available, tournament regulations were invoked to determine the winner. Competition rules state that if the Domestic T20 final cannot be played, or if it ends in a tie and a Super Over cannot be completed, the team that finishes top of the standings during the group stages is declared champion.

The Rhinos had topped the log at the conclusion of the group phase, a position that ultimately earned them the title and saw them successfully retain their Domestic T20 crown.

The Eagles, who had also enjoyed an impressive campaign en route to the final, were forced to settle for runners-up despite missing the opportunity to contest the title on the field.

While the outcome was a disappointment for players and fans who had hoped for a decisive finish, the Rhinos’ consistency throughout the tournament proved decisive. Their strong performances during the group stages laid the foundation for championship success, even in the absence of a final showdown.

The result brings the 2025/26 Domestic T20 season to a close, with the Rhinos once again standing as the competition’s top side.
