Mbuya Stella Rambisai Chiweshe, who died early on Friday morning, will be buried in Masembura Village, Bindura today.
The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe confirmed the burial arrangements, saying her body was to leave for Masembura yesterday (Monday).
Her funeral wake was being held at her daughter’s homestead at Chinyika Village in Goromonzi.
Mbuya Chiweshe died from brain cancer at her Kuwadzana home in Harare aged 77.
She was granted a State-assisted funeral by government.
The late Mbuya Chiweshe promoted Zimbabwean culture through music and film.
She received several local and international accolades during her career, including the Billboard Music Award (1993), the National Arts Merit Awards (2006), the Nama Lifetime Achievement Award (2020), and the Nama Legends Awards (2021).
