
A domestic dispute between relatives has ended in tragedy after a man allegedly fatally stabbed his nephew during a violent altercation in Budiriro.
The accused, whose identity is being withheld pending further investigations, is expected to appear before the Harare Magistrates' Courts on April 15 facing a murder charge.
According to court documents, the incident occurred on April 20, 2024, at a family residence in Budiriro. The accused allegedly stabbed his nephew, now deceased, following a confrontation linked to a previous assault involving the accused and his cousin, Shingirai Mukwande.

Prosecutors say tensions escalated when the deceased confronted the accused over the earlier dispute. The confrontation reportedly turned violent after the deceased allegedly armed himself with a kitchen knife.
The accused is alleged to have retaliated using an unidentified sharp object, stabbing the victim once in the back. He allegedly fled the scene, leaving the injured man lying on a sofa in the dining room, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The incident came to light the following morning when Sophio Makaranga discovered the body and reported the matter to the authorities.
A postmortem examination conducted on April 26, 2024, confirmed the cause of death as lung and heart lacerations consistent with a stab wound.
The accused is expected to formally answer to the murder charge when he appears in court later this month.
