Fourteen people died this (Tuesday 5 May) afternoon after a Malawi-bound BRD Luxury Coach bus crashed near Suswe in Mutoko.
The bus, which police said was coming from Cape Town, South Africa, was involved in an accident at the 176km peg along the Harare-Nyamapanda Highway at around 1pm.
“The ZRP reports a fatal road traffic accident which occurred this afternoon at the 176 km peg along the Harare-Nyamapanda Road near Suswe,” police said.

Initial police reports from the scene indicated that 14 people had died.
The bus was reportedly carrying 63 passengers. Some of the injured were taken to Mutoko District Hospital and Kotwa District Hospital for treatment.
Police said more details would be released in due course.
