The City of Harare has said Mabvuku Polyclinic is now offering Caesarean services free of charge for elective cases through the Results-Based Financing World Bank scheme.

Speaking to Zimbabwe Now, Harare City Council spokesperson Innocent Ruwende said the scheme aims to increase access to mothers for Caesarian and maternity services, strengthen the human resources and complement of doctors who operate.

He said the council is going to be building referral hospitals in the North, East, South and West sides of the city.

“Plans are to sustain the operations, to scale up the numbers done and increase coverage across council clinics and the surrounding catchment areas,” he said.

Meanwhile, the council also said it is going to add services like kidney dialysis.

“We are also going to purchase a whole lot of diagnostic equipment,” said Ruwende.
