A 38 year old man repeatedly sodomised a minor for 4 years, telling the boy that if he reported the abuse, the victim would be struck by lightning.
It is the state’s case that in 2019 when the complainant was in Grade 7, Bray Madzirashe, 38, of Chidzikwe Village, Sommerton Extension in Masvingo rural, took the boy to the pastures, pinned him to the ground, removed his trousers and penetrated him from the back.
He warned the boy that he would be struck by lightning if he told anyone and the violent abuse continued for the next few years.
The matter came to light on February 6, 2022 after accused person took the boy to his place and sodomised him.
The victim's father asked his son what was wrong when the boy refused to eat his food.
The minor then opened up to his father and narrated his ordeal at the hands of Madzirashe.
The matter was reported on February 4, 2022 to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Masvingo rural and Madzirashe was arrested.
On appearing before Masvingo provincial magistrate, Bishard Chineka, Madzirashe pleaded guilty as charged.
Magistrate Chineka sentenced Madzirashe to a 20-year jail term with two years suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar crime.
, Madzirashe broke down, pleading for leniency, but Chineka would have none of it and maintained the sentence as dished.
