As efforts to decentralise judicial services continue, the Judiciary Services Commission plans to open courts in every district of the country, JSC secretary, Walter Chikwana has said.

Chikwana was speaking during a monitoring tour of Chimanimani Magistrates’ Court this afternoon, where he said the JSC has managed to open resident magistrates’ courts in most districts of the country.

Where the JSC has not yet opened the relevant courts, people get services from circuit courts.

“When we opened the 2023 legal year, Chimanimani was one of the districts that were scheduled for a resident magistrates’ court and we are glad that we managed to open it earlier this month and it has been successfully operating since then,” said Chikwana.

The district was operating with a circuit court before the opening of the Chimanimani Magistrates’ Court on February 3.
