As teams in the Premier Soccer League fine-tune their squads ahead of the 2023 season, which is due to start mid-March, Bulawayo-based Highlanders Football Club have taken their preparations to the Matabeleland South town of Plumtree.

Bosso have a friendly match with Southern Region Division One side, Mainline FC, which was organised by the Plumtree Highlanders Supporters’ Chapter, tomorrow.

The Mainline game is the third friendly that the Bulawayo giants are playing where fans will be allowed to watch the team in action.

Bosso drew 0-0 with Sheasham in Gweru before they went on to play Dhulivhadzimo FC in Beitbridge in matches that ended in a 3-3 draw while the second ended 3-2 in favour of the Bulawayo side.

Calvin Chigonero, on loan from Talen Vision, scored a brace while Stanley Ngala added another to force a draw against the Division One side.

In the second game, Lynoth Chikuhwa and Ray Lunga were on target for Bosso.

Highlanders played two closed training games against Bulawayo Chiefs, drawing the first one 2-2 before winning the second game 4-2.

Highlanders coach Baltermar Brito is keen to test trialists defensive midfielder Brighton Manhire, 29; right back Marvellous Chigumira, 24, as well as 22-year-old Elashamar Farasi.

Manhire is a product of Chicken Inn Juniors. He played for Bulawayo Chiefs before moving to South Africa where he was on the books of Division One sides, Mbombela United and Richards Bay.

Chigumira is trying his luck with the Bulawayo giants from relegated TelOne.
