Sylvester Chizanga, aka Freeman, will receive the People’s Choice Award at the The ZimDancehall Awards 2022 Edition which will be held on March 31 at Woods Gardens, Harare hosted by Lady Storm.
This year’s theme is “Uplifting ghetto youths is a must, together we rise” which was inspired by the need to create more visibility and investor interest.
Freeman’s song Zimbabwean Queen is also nominated for best song of the year competing with the likes of Quonfuzed with Kamunamato Kekubhawa and King Shaddy, featuring Potain with Running Stomach.
Freeman also won the National Arts Merits Awards People’s Choice Award, beating the likes of Dorcas Moyo, Mark Ngwazi and Theophilus Chigumira.
He was selected in three categories including outstanding male artist, outstanding album 13th track David and Goliath and outstanding song for his track called Zimbabwean Queen which features Jamaican Chris Martin.
Other nominees for the ZimDancehall awards include Blot who is nominated for Best ZimDancehall Male artist, Lady Squanda for best female artist, Miss V Candy for best female presenter/ MC, Poptain for best alternative male artist, Ras Caleb for best Zim reggae artist.
