A-40-year-old woman from Mushayavhudzi suburb was arrested by Police in Mvuma for killing twin boys she gave birth to on Sunday morning.
It is suspected Nyarai Swatch, 40, gave birth in the morning alone in her room and killed the twins before dumping them in a plastic bin outside the house which she shares with other tenants.
Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident.
Mahoko said they are waiting on a post-mortem report to establish how Swatch allegedly killed the twins.
“It is critical that people should have planned pregnancies which usher babies that they are happy with and take care of them.
“Children are gifts from God and parents should feel happy to look after them. Ending a life is a serious offence and sin,” Insp Mahoko said.
Swatch has been admitted at Mvuma District Hospital under Police guard since yesterday.
A passer-by alerted the police leading to her arrest.
