A Budiriro man who was sent by another whom he claims to be his boss to collect US$5 000 from a client and took the money to his own benefit has appeared before magistrate Munashe Chibanda.
Simbarashe Zimba, 36, of Budiriro 2, appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Court accused's of theft of trust property.
The State, alleges that, on May 2, 2022, at Jameson Hotel, Harare, Lloyd Kufakwedeke - who is the complainant in this matter - got a contract from Highest Goodmine (Pvt) Ltd to transport coal from Hwange to Tiger Bricks in Harare at US$55 per tonne.
The nature of their contract was that Kufakwedeke would be paid after every trip, that is, on arrival with the coal at Tiger Bricks.
On May 4, 2022 and May 9, 2022, Kufakwedekwe supplied coal at Tiger Bricks and he invoiced US$5 000 to Highest Goodmine (Pvt) Ltd.
He then assigned Zimba to collect the money from Highest Goodmine (Pvt) Ltd on his behalf.
Zimba collected a total of US$5 000 and converted the money to his own use.
That caused Kufakwedeke to lose US$5 000 and nothing was recovered.
Chibanda ordered Zimba to appear in court on Monday for bail application.
