A woman who was caught with unregistered medicines on a bus has appeared in court.

Esther Kumbirai Chemutsanga, 23, of Chipinge appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi accused of possessing unregistered medicines.

The State, through prosecutor Grace Mugocheke, alleges that on July 19, 2023, members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police who were manning a roadblock at Leopack, along Lomagundi Road, Westgate, stopped a bus, Bolt Cutter in order to conduct searches.

During the search, they found one sack which had various unregistered complimentary medicines on the bus.

Chemutsanga, who was on the bus, was subsequently arrested after she admitted that she was the owner of the medicines.

The alleged medicines are not approved by the Medicines Control of Zimbabwe.

The unregistered medicines have an estimated street value of ZWL$2 000 000.

Mangosi ordered Chemutsanga to pay US$30 as bail.

She will appear in court on August 2 for her routine remand.
