A 31-year old Masvingo man, Tinashe Marufu, was on Friday stabbed to death by thieves who had stolen his mobile phone.
Masvingo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident saying.
“Tinashe Marufu, 31, was stabbed by Tichaona Chambarombo, 23, who is in police custody. His accomplice, Desire Matore is still at large.”
Marufu was reportedly stabbed as he chased after thieves who had stolen his mobile phone.
Said Inspector Dhewa: “The incident happened around 1am near Francis Aphiri Primary School. Circumstances are that Marufu chased the duo and shouted for help. Three neighbours followed to help him. Upon reaching Francis Aphiri, Matore failed to jump the school perimeter wall and Marufu apprehended him. Chambarombo came to his accomplice’s aid and he stabbed Marufu with an Okapi knife near the right side collar bone and disappeared.”
“The three neighbours following Marufu managed to apprehend Chambarombo. They reported the matter at a ZRP Runyararo West base,” he added.
