Cinema Society calls for entries ZAFTA awards draw closer

The Zimbabwean film industry is buzzing with anticipation as the deadline for submissions to the prestigious Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards draws near.

Filmmakers and industry stakeholders are reminded that the submission deadline is set for September 10, 2023.

The Cinema Society of Zimbabwe, which is the esteemed organisation behind the ZAFTAs, invites all eligible filmmakers to submit their entries for consideration in this highly-acclaimed event.

Films can be submitted at the Cinema Society of Zimbabwe offices located in Harare, Gweru, Bulawayo, Gwanda, and Mutare.

The ZAFTAs, promising a grand red carpet and awards ceremony, will be held in Harare on December 2, 2023.

This highly-anticipated event promises to be a dazzling celebration of the exceptional talent and creativity within the Zimbabwean film and television industry.

CSZ Vice president and ZAFTAs Chairperson, Jessie Allen said the organisation is thrilled by the overwhelming response from the Zimbabwean film industry.

“Through platforms like Filmfreeway and Google Form, we have already received a total of 8 feature films and over 40 short films.

“The support we are receiving from the film and television creatives, broadcasting stations, corporate partners, and our enthusiastic audiences is truly remarkable,” she said.

The ZAFTAs provide a platform for recognition and celebration of excellence within the cultural and creative industry.

It is an opportunity for filmmakers, actors, directors, producers, writers, and technicians to showcase their exceptional work and contribute to the growth and development of the Zimbabwean film and television landscape.

The ZAFTAs is a prestigious event organised by the CSZ which celebrates excellence and innovation within the Zimbabwean film and television industry.
