A man from Harare, Elvis Chidzomba, has appeared in court for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend’s hands, chest, and head after suspecting that she had stolen his money.
Chidzomba was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare regional magistrate, Taurai Manuwere charged with attempted murder.
He was remanded in custody pending a bail application.
The State, led by Anesu Chirenje, alleged that on Tuesday, at around 6.30am, Nyasha Dwati visited her boyfriend at his house.
Chidzomba then accused Dwati of stealing US$160 that he had kept in his cap, but she denied the allegations.
Chidzomba stabbed her several times on the head, hands, chest, and back, and she sustained injuries.
