At least three people were killed while four others were injured in a road accident which occurred at the 105-kilometre peg along Bulawayo-Maphisa Road on Monday when a Mazda 5 vehicle veered off the road before hitting a tree and landing on its roof.
Police confirmed the accident.
“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 105 kilometre peg along Bulawayo-Maphisa Road on 27/11/23 at around 1230 hours in which three people were killed whilst four others were injured when a Mazda 5 vehicle veered off the road before hitting a tree and landing on its roof.”
Bodies of the victims were taken to Maphisa District Hospital for post mortem while the injured are admitted at the same medical facility.
Meanwhile, two people were killed while another was injured when a Toyota Alteza vehicle veered off the road before hitting a tree along 12th Avenue at a curve between Park Road and Herman Road on Saturday evening.
The bodies were taken to United Bulawayo Group of Hospitals for post mortem while the injured person is admitted at the same hospital.
In Ruwa, police are investigating a case of murder in which a 16-year-old juvenile stabbed Theionvus Mhungira, 19, with a kitchen knife on the neck after a misunderstanding over an undisclosed issue at a house in Solomio Park on Monday.
In another case, police in Gokwe have arrested Mavis Murungwa, 63, in connection with a case of murder which occurred at Mabhiza Village, Chireya on Sunday in which her husband, Tinaye Goka, 63, died.
Murungwa and her granddaughter, 16, took turns to hit Goka with a log and cooking stick indiscriminately all over the body after a domestic dispute.
“The victim had destroyed kitchen utensils and a goat pen built by the suspect. The victim was found dead near a borehole on 27/11/23,” police learnt.
