Bindura man up for murder and attempted murder charges

A man from Chiriseri Secondary School, Marvelous Dombojena Chikowe has been arrested after allegedly murdering his wife foillowing an argument over an undisclosed issue.

Chikow also faces an attempted murder charge after he attacked 43-year-old Albert Mawere three times on the head with an unknown sharp object.

Police confirmed the arrest.

“Police in Bindura confirms the arrest of Marvelous Demojena Chikowe in connection with a case of murder and another of attempted murder which occurred on 30/11/23 at Chiriseri Secondary School, Bindura in which his wife Ratidzai Mufari, 43, died while another victim was injured. The suspect allegedly assaulted his wife after a heated argument over an undisclosed issue.

“Resultantly, the victim sustained six deep cuts on the face, swollen ribs and swollen right hand. The suspect left his wife unconscious and he proceeded to a nearby house where he assaulted Albert Mawere, 43, three times on the head using an unknown sharp object and he broke the victim’s left arm. Both victims were ferried to a local clinic where Ratidzai Mufari died on admission,” the police statement reads.

Meanwhile, police in Kariba have arrested Chipengo Mpande, 22, in connection with the murder of Fragment Chari, 26 after accusing hi m of having an affair with his estranged wife.

“Police in Kariba have arrested Chipengo Mpande, 22, in connection with a case of murder which occurred on 30/11/23 in which Fragment Chari, 26, died. The suspect accused the victim of having an affair with his estranged wife before stabbing him once on the left side of the stomach with an okapi knife.”

According to police, Chari was rushed to Kariba District Hospital where he died on admission.
