Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa was a surprise no-show at the party’s fundraising dinner, sparking speculation and leaving supporters disappointed.
Sources close to the event say Chamisa abruptly cancelled his attendance just before the dinner began. Party organising secretary, Amos Chibaya downplayed the absence, stating that Chamisa was just unavailable and it is not mandatory for him to attend.
However, some CCC members expressed frustration, questioning the reason for Chamisa’s last-minute decision and speculating about possible disagreements within the party leadership.
Chibaya denied any internal conflicts, emphasising that attendance at the dinner was voluntary. He also confirmed that Chamisa has been attending other party meetings during December.
Despite Chibaya’s assurances, the incident has fuelled rumours and raised questions about Chamisa’s future plans and the current state of the CCC.
According to the organiser of the dinner, Clifford Hlatshwayo, who is also CCC Chief Whip, Chamisa was attending to other pressing issues.
"The president was attending to other pressing issues."
