Police prepared to handle planned destabilisation activities

The Zimbabwe Republic Police have said they are prepared to deal with any attempts aimed at destabilising the peace and stability currently obtaining in the country.

This comes as police have been made aware of promiscuous efforts by unidentified individuals and groups to cause mayhem in the country through economic sabotage and public despondency in the new year.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, in a statement on X, guaranteed safety and security of all despite having elements and groups in the nation that have threatened the peace and stability obtaining in the country.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is ready to deal with any malcontent and unruly elements bent on causing chaos, disorder and despondency among Zimbabweans in the new year, 2024,” reads the statement.

Ass. Comm Nyathi said the police are aware of plans by individuals or groups to engage in destabilising activities such as sending alarming messages on social media, unsanctioned gatherings and economic sabotage among other activities.

The police urged the general public to report any acts of disturbance to their nearest police station.
