Popular Zimdancehall artiste, Seh Calaz has taken to social media and media interviews to express his deep concern about the rampant drug abuse in Mbare, specifically the notorious “mutoriro” substance. His stark message: “We know who sells them and where they sell it. Mutoriro is now a pandemic.”
While acknowledging the efforts of authorities, Calaz urges them to “intensify and work faster” to curb the growing crisis. He believes the current pace isn’t enough, stating: “Singing ‘say no to drugs’ is not enough. People still remain high on drugs, not just in Mbare.”
He emphasises the need for immediate action, even expressing fear of “getting ahead of the government” with his outspokenness. However, his concern for the community overrides any hesitation.
“This is a matter of life and death. Our future generation is getting destroyed. We need more than awareness campaigns. We need concrete action, arrests, and rehabilitation programs,” Calaz passionately argues.
His call to action highlights the urgency of addressing the mutoriro pandemic and raises questions about the effectiveness of current strategies. With a powerful voice like Calaz’s leading the charge, hopefully, Mbare’s streets will see a brighter future soon.
