A Goromonzi man, who killed his 71-year-old uncle while he was sleeping, has been denied bail.

Fanuel Masora, 34, of Goromonzi appeared before magistrate Munashe Chibanda accused of murder.

The complainant in this case is Majigo Masora, 71, Phase 4 Eastview Goromonzi.

The State, through prosecutor Rufaro Chonzi, alleges that on January 6, 2024, at around 0030 hours in Phase 4 Eastview, Caledonia, Goromonzi, Masora was with the now-deceased at home.

It is alleged that the now deceased was fast asleep and Fanuel woke up and took a truck wheel spanner which was on the table.

He then hit the now-deceased with the truck spanner on the head four times and he died on the spot.

After Fanuel realised that his uncle had died, he allegedly took the body to a neighbouring house, which is under construction, and placed it body in one of unfinished rooms.

He returned to his home and cleaned the blood that was on the floor.

It is alleged that he then told his brother, Tatenda Masora, that he had killed his father and the matter was reported at Mabvuku Police Station, leading to his arrest.

“I struck him and after that l carried him to a certain room covered with a cloth,” Fanuel said.

He will appear on January 22 for his routine remand.
