Ambition hums like a live wire through the veins of Herentals FC, a Premier Soccer League team hungry for silverware in the upcoming 2024 season. After consistently gracing the top eight of the league since their 2018 promotion, “The Students” are yearning to etch their name onto a trophy in the top-flight.

A brush with glory in the 2023 Chibuku Super Cup final, where they fell to Bulawayo Chiefs, ignited their thirst for success. Now, with eyes firmly fixed on the prize, they’re injecting fresh blood into their squad. Five promising youngsters, honed in the furnace of their Northern Region Division One development side, have been promoted to the senior team.

“These players share the club’s DNA,” asserts Herentals coach Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva, his voice thick with optimism. “We believe they can propel us beyond last season’s performance and help us finally land something significant in the league.”

Leon Daka, a teenage talent plucked from the ashes of relegated Cranborne Bullets, adds youthful exuberance to the mix. The returning Willmore Chimbetu, a dynamic right back who honed his skills on loan at Dynamos, further bolsters the squad’s defensive resolve.

However, the departure of flying winger, Davison Marowa to FC Platinum throws a wrench in the meticulously crafted plans. Yet, the spirit of Herentals remains undimmed. Their hunger for success burns brighter than ever, casting a warm glow on the promise of the new season.

This isn’t just a football team. It’s a community of ambitious students, seasoned veterans, and raw talent, all united under the banner of Herentals FC. In 2024, they aren’t just chasing points or plaudits. They’re chasing history, chasing dreams, and most importantly, chasing that elusive piece of silverware that would mark their arrival as a true force in Zimbabwean football.
